Minimize Video Observe how the storyteller relates the tales through body language, expressions, tones, sounds, images, and audience engagement. Take notes on how the storyteller applies mythological and/or storytelling characteristics in his storytelling.
  • Watch and listen to storyteller Rita Moreno as she reads the story "I Need a Monster. (Links to an external site.)" Observe how Moreno relates the tale through words, expressions, images and music.  Take notes on the mythological and/or storytelling characteristics in the story.
  • Write a 3 paragraph response to the three storytelling experiences, analyzing for mythological and storytelling qualities. (Note: A paragraph at the college level need to be 7-12 sentences in length and fully developed.) Begin your first paragraph with a topic sentence that relates to how mythological qualities might be present in the stories, and then provide evidences from the stories and analysis of those evidences to support and prove that topic sentence. Begin your second paragraph with a topic sentence that relates to how morals or lessons are communicated in the stories, and then provide evidences from the stories and analysis of those evidences to support and prove that topic sentence. Begin your third paragraph with a topic sentence that relates to the types of human conflicts and relationships that are explored in the stories, and then provide evidences from the stories and analysis of those evidences to support and prove that topic sentence.
