Checkpoint 2 of the Course Research Project consists of two sections. In the first section students will examine similarities and differences in the organization, administration, principal functions, and objectives of the criminal justice system in the United States with that of the criminal justice system of the selected foreign country. In the second section students will describe how a criminally charged individual progresses through the various stages of the criminal justice system in both the United States and selected foreign country.
As part of both sections students must address at a minimum the following functions of each criminal justice system: (1) law enforcement and arrest; (2) court proceedings; (3) correctional and alternative sentencing; and (4) rights of the accused.
Information provided in both sections of the Course Research Project paper that are submitted as part of Checkpoint 2 must be supported with cited resources. The sections of the Course Research Project paper that are submitted as part of Checkpoint 2 should be a combined length of 6 - 10 page, not counting the cover and citation pages using apa format. Students must only submit the sections of the Course Research Project paper that are part of Checkpoint 2. The components that were submitted during Week 3 as part of Checkpoint 1 must not be included with this submission.
