Choose one article from any of the Recommended Scholarly Resources from Units 2-5 and compose a 500-word summary. This assignment must be completed during Unit 2; however, you are not limited to the articles in the Recommended Scholarly Resources from Unit 2. Make sure you include the following in your summary:
- Bibliographical citation (MLA) at the beginning of the summary for your article of choice.
- A short statement (usually more than one sentence) explaining the author's thesis in the article. Refer to the author by his or her last name often in your summary.
- Identify all the sub-points that support the author's thesis; also, identify the key ideas and terms from all major sections of the article, with a sense of conclusion at the end.
- You may include a few highly pertinent quotations from the article (i.e., short phrases that are well stated and worth quoting in a future paper); use correct MLA citation for all quotations.
- Remember that your opinion is not part of this assignment. Keep your focus and comments on what the writer of the article is trying to say and summarize his or her opinions as concisely as you can.
