Option #1
God of the Gaps?
Cave offers the theoretical support for the idea of the soul as a kind of "god of the gaps" argument. Since we don't know how to explain this or that – sensation, or thought, or consciousness – we offer each of those, and others of the same sort, as being produced by an entity, a soul. On that account, the soul occupies the "gaps" in knowledge and consequently is more like naming our ignorance of consciousness than it is explaining consciousness. Is that a fair representation of the theoretical origin of the idea of the soul? Can there be something more there than naming our ignorance of how physical processes produce thought?
Option #2
ProMem Revisited
Is the world presented by the story "ProMem" a possible world? A coherent world? Whichever way you go with that, why that way?
