Maria, I agree with you when it comes to facilitating spiritual care to patients with a different worldview of spirituality than our personal belief. I am with you when it comes to respect for the patients, I am very proud of you. Some of our patients live home alone and need someone to listen to them. I have also noticed that some of the physicians do not address spiritual care with their patients. According to studies by the American Family Physicians. Physicians claim there are some barriers why they don’t address spirituality. they don’t have enough time 71 percent, they have lack of experience taking spiritual histories 59 percent, difficulty identifying patients who wanted to discuss spiritual issues 56 percent, and the belief that addressing spiritual concerns is not part of the physician's role 31 percent.I think spirituality care have to be address as a team.
