Scenario

You are a Sales Executive working for the Datalytic software technology company. Datalytic is looking for new revenue streams to boost its financials. The company has been performing poorly, and a different approach needs to be taken. A review of sales performance is showing that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Website Design sales are slowing over the past 12 months. Your manager has devised a sales strategy which includes focusing on clients who have purchased other products from Datalytic, but not the SEO or Website Design package. In order to gain customer interest, Datalytic is offering new and existing customers a free website evaluation.

Your knowledge of website analytics is essential to completing an analysis that will gain customer interest. You understand that the website design is integral to search engine optimization. You view this situation as a personal challenge, and you have set a goal for yourself to convert 50% of the free website evaluations into deals closed. In order to reach your goal, you will need to apply best practices for SEO and Website Design.

Instructions

Select a website of your choosing, review the website using best practices for SEO and website design, and then prepare a report based upon your evaluation. Establish a plan for the initial website review. Since this evaluation will be free to the customer, you will need to assess your chosen website and summarize the issues quickly. The following items make up the business requirements and should be included in your report:

• Evaluate the website for design and traffic flow. Highlight areas that could be improved.
• Utilize website statistics to determine the effectiveness of keyword searching, clickthroughs, and direct name searching.
• Assess the performance of your chosen website and how well it functions based upon the current design.
• Illustrate to the customer how the current website design impacts its performance. Include a comparison of the current design vs. best practices. This requirement should be completed with a graphic for visual comparison.
• Provide a summary of specific actions the customer should take to improve website performance.
