Complete 1 page APA formatted article: Posting/blog. Response Affiliation: I agree with your explanation that nurses need to have cultural awareness in order to deal with individual patients and especially those who have problems with nurses of particular culture. Knowledge of cultural awareness allows for effective caring for the patient and for the patient to feel their culture is promoted and their cultural wishes obeyed and followed. This is evident in the case of the female gynecologist who did not want to be treated by a male doctor because of their culture (Bearskin, 2011).

I however do not understand your argument on the collectivist culture. The case of the Chinese man is obvious because most Chinese in their culture do not believe in western medicine. What is however important to discuss and mention is the issue of cultural awareness, cultural knowledge, cultural skill, Cultural encounters as well as cultural desires. Having these cultural competencies will provide the patient with patient autonomy which is what most patients need (Leever, 2011).

The explanation you have provided on relational ethics is about inadequate and lacks proper real life example. What is obvious is the fact that relational ethics is what is needed to be implemented by the nurses more than the organizational ethics. The other thing that is most important in the article and which you have not been able to explain in detail is the nursing implications which the nurses encounter as a result of the cultural competency. The most important of the implications is acquisition of mutual respect.
