Complete 1 page APA formatted article: Push Technology. Push Technology Push Technology Push technology relates to a system for delivering information on the internet as initiated by information server. Push email uses a delivery system, which can push email through to a client soon after it arrives. Push technology does require a client to poll or manually collect mail. Push technology differs from mass mailing and spams in a number of ways. First, email arrives at the receiver’s Internet Service Provider mail server from which it stays awaiting its collection. For web-based email, it first arrives at the website server. Second, irrespective of whether the recipient uses polling email, the outgoing mail gets to the final mail delivery agent through pushing from the sender.
Advantages of push technology include instant service for transmitting information. It is also efficient in initiating server connections (Haag & Cummings, 2013). On the contrary, mass mailing saves money and time. In addition, it helps businesses to build a list of clients. Information load makes it difficult to get the time for reading all the alerts, which is a disadvantage of push technology. Mass mailing has a disadvantage since it can send offensive messages, which can reduce the business brand reputation.
