logy, psychology, physiology, neurosciences and other fields to comprehend the relationship between biochemistry of nervous system and the person’s behavior.

The brain is composed of millions of neurons. The neurons are connected with each other through axons and dendrites. The term known as the ‘Action Potential’ is where the neurons form a network and communicate with each other through electrical energy (Aleixo, 2008). The axon of one neuron connects with the dendrites of another neuron and a network is formed. The importance of this field is paramount for there has been a prevalence of over-simplistic solutions about intelligence, movement, sensation, reasoning and intellect. The popular notion is nervous system and the brain is solely responsible for such factors. The fact is, there is much more that goes into a behavior.

The process of gathering information for studying biological psychology varies across time. One text book example is recording the behavior and physiology of lab rats. For instance Horseradish peroxidase would be injected into the thalamus of the test subject (a mouse), entering the fibers of its eye’s retina. The cross section of the brain is examined to trace the dark color of the stain, while it moves their origin (Freberg, 2009). When this stain reaches the ganglion cells, this indicates that “these cells are the source of the nerve endings” that were stained in LGN (Lateral Geniculate Nucleus) (Freberg, 2009, p. 9). Similar tests would be conducted to understand the bio-chemical root of behavior.

For instance other ways of gathering information include autopsy of the human body or observation immediately following the death. Autopsy might be old-fashioned way of collecting such information but it delivers. Modern day practices include imaging that has made it possible to examine brain activity in real time. A subject’s brain would show activity while reading or emotional changes (Freberg, 2009), researches can directly
