Compose a 1500 words assignment on introduction and family background. Needs to be plagiarism free! That is why I am focused on studying abroad to gather the knowledge I need to actualize my long-term dreams. I am a confident believer in technology.
Currently, we are undergoing a fast technological revolution, and the success of anyone in the world is dependent on their technical prowess. Despite my love for knowledge and desire to pursue technology, . I still pay attention to my physical wellbeing by taking part in sports and working out frequently.
I live in an extended family of five. This consists of my grandparents, my parents, and me. Mother works with the Delhi Police while my father retired from the private sector a couple of years ago. My entire family has been a great inspiration to me and continually pushes me to get the education I need to fulfill my dreams.
My Family’s Financial Status
My parents are not very well off. They have had to secure a loan to fund my higher studies. Since I am the only child, it is my responsibility to recover that money during and after my studies. I will recover part of this when in Australia, but my main focus will be excelling in my studies so that I can secure a good job and create lucrative startups on the side. I will eventually come back to India and start a construction company. Other than this, my family owns property whose worth is around four to five crore INR.
Academic and Extra-Curricular Accolades So Far
My education journey started at St. Francis De Sales School, where I graduated with an 8 CGPA for my secondary school. After this, I graduated with a 79.6% for my senior secondary studies from the St. Cecilia's Public school. I received a non-medical stream from the CBSE board while there. After this, I moved on to a four-year program at the G.D Goenka University, where I graduated with a 7.92 CGPA in Bachelor of Technology, Civil Engineering. This is what is fueling my desire to start a construction company.
Other than just focusing on my studies, I took part in sports from early learning to University level. I also played for the basketball and football teams and also took to swimming. In addition to this, I am a competitive 10m air pistol shooter. My sports insight, combined with my studies, has made me a hard-working individual who fully understands the benefits of dedication, teamwork, leadership, and relentlessly working on goals.
Work Experience
My experience with the job market started when doing my undergraduate course. I underwent the mandatory 10-week industrial attachment that was necessary to complete my course. I was training at the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
After finishing my degree at the university, I started working at Leighton India Contractors. This is in line with my passion for construction. My responsibility was to ensure that we had engineering controls in place to ensure that the worksite met quality and deadline objectives. This has given me a lot of experience in the industry, furthering what I learned during my university course.
Why I Want to Study in Australia
Having gone through the entire course of learning in India makes me feel that the learning system here is wanting. It is not up to international standards when it comes to merging theoretical and practical concepts. I think that there are parts of the world that have better approaches. Lecturers here don’t have the tools or motivation needed to make classes, engaging, interactive, and, most importantly, up to par with the ever-evolving academic writing scene.
I have chosen to study in Australia since it is the exact opposite of what we have in my country. Their advanced management skills have seen a growth in amenities, fast adoption of technology, and better learning environments. Couple this with the rich Australian culture, and you get the perfect blend any person who wants to succeed in the world should look forward to tapping into.
My family supports my educational goal. They feel that leaving the country for international education will be good for my career and the ultimate goal of creating a construction company. There are more opportunities, field attachments, and opportunities to further my skills in Australia. Moreover, I can capitalize on the fact that international learners are allowed to work part-time. This will help me better my financial standing while also giving me practical work experience. Here are other reasons that make me feel Australia is a great educational destination for me.
Amazing and Welcoming People
Australians are among the most welcoming people in the world. It doesn’t matter where you are from. You will be treated as a friend. They are a highly diversified society that loves making new friends and still subscribes to that calming laid-back culture that is a great way to wind down after a long day at work or in class.
A Reasonable Education System
The biggest reason I am keen on studying in the country is that their academic accolades are recognized everywhere. This is because their educational system is practical and always up to date. Students receive a quality education, and they can apply what they learn in a real-life scenario without further training.
In addition to this, the country has affordable tuition fees compared to other international learning destinations in the world. They also offer good support and management to students from other countries, making it easier to fit into the new culture and focus on studies.
Access to Recreational Activities
Besides being a culturally diverse and good educational destination, Australia also offers a wide range of opportunities for people looking for adventure. There are trails to hike, mountains to climb, and water sports to play. The beaches are especially famous across the world. If you seek something more, you can venture into the deserts to discover the diverse animal life that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Why I Choose to Study at the University of Adelaide
I did a lot of research and consultations before choosing a university. After a lot of counseling from people well versed in international education, I concluded that the University of Adelaide is the best place for me to get my Masters in Construction Management. . All the educational fairs I attend made me believe it will be the best institution to further my career.
Before making the decision, I compared it to other higher learning institutions in Melbourne and Sydney that offer this master in a construction management course. I looked and Deakin and Swinburne universities that also provide the course. However, after looking at the course details, I was forced to conclude Adelaide is the most suitable for my goals, and it also had affordable tuition fees, which is essential, bearing in mind my financial background.
The master's in construction management course I have decided to pursue has at least 48 units that must be completed in two years. The studies will expose me to the skills and theory I need to apply management concepts in real-life construction projects. The skills will apply across different cultures and international settings, meaning that I will be an internationally recognized engineer.
I will also learn critical business management skills like:
- Cost planning.
- Project management.
- Systemic risk assessment.
- Contract law.
- Organizational leadership.
These lessons will come in handy as I re-enter the market and push my dream of starting my own business in the industry at one point. In the end, I believe I will be a better problem solver with impeccable communication skills that will allow me to work in a wide range of markets across the globe.
After finishing my course at Adelaide, I will have updated the skills that employers are looking for. Consequently, I can get job placements in construction, engineering, or even government projects. This will, later on, combine with the entrepreneurial skills I gather and my ability to work as a team member to give me the tools I need to better my career and lifestyle.
In my opinion, this university will open up my job opportunities and help me evolve into a professional who can turn my dream into a reality. With my long-term goal of driving me, I am sure that I will meet your educational standards as a higher learning institution. I hope that you will consider my application for admission to your postgraduate school of construction management.
My Career Goals
Rising up the career ladder to the extent of being a trusted and renowned engineer in my niche has always been my dream. However, before getting there, I understand that I have to get the necessary education and field training. Leaving my country to study abroad is the first step. After this, I plan to get a job at a construction company or in a firm that needs a construction manager. Here, I will not only showcase the design and management skills I learn at your university but also gather more experience that will push me towards my long-term goal. I will eventually return to India within two to three years of finishing my masters since my main goal is to get international training, not leaving my country forever.
I find that Adelaide University has all the things I need to make my dream work true. I am sure that my background, coupled with your program, will help me unlock my full potation. I am eager to a strong member of the department. I hope that this short introduction and family background statement has expounded on my interests, passions, and experiences.
