Consider the reading that you have done through the years, either as a school assignment or as a personal choice. Choose a fiction work -- novel, short story, play, poem – or  nonfiction work – biography, autobiography, self help book, etc. -- which made a great impression on you. In a minimum 5 paragraph essay, discuss the work and why it impressed you.

Note: this is not a book report. The essay should revolve around the reasons the work impressed you. 

Note: There should be a three-part supported thesis statement in the opening paragraph. 

The thesis statement should contain the reasons the work impressed you. Each body paragraph should contain a clear topic sentence which refers back to the thesis and at least two specific examples from the work to support the topic sentence. In addition, there should be at least one direct quotation in each body paragraph. The direct quotations must be documented with the page number from the work.  There should be a Works Cited page at the end of the essay (set up with 8th edition MLA). Note: any essay that does not include documentation and a works cited page will receive a grade no higher than a D.
