Choose an African nation that became independent in the 1950s or 1960s. Note that South Africa became independent in 1910, Egypt in 1922, and Liberia in the 1840s. There are several other nations that will not qualify for this assignment as they did not become independent in the 50s or 60s.

A simple Internet search will return chronological lists of Independence dates for African nations.

Write an essay in which you take a first-person perspective and explain what the nation was experiencing on the day independence was achieved and on a day 25 years later. Describe the situation in your chosen country as it evolved over those years in your own words. Consider economic, political, and social issues, as well as foreign affairs, and provide justified and academically referenced and cited examples to tell the story.

To complete this assignment, you are required to use a minimum of two reputable sources, cited and referenced, and only one of which may be the textbook or a source provided in the required or suggested reading.

 Your essay should be at least two pages in length and be double spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font. Use APA style for any in-text citations and corresponding references need subheader top left of paper page number top right and no headers in essay.
