Directions and Analysis

Task 1: Creating a Budget Using Spreadsheets

Your school club plans want to go on an three to five day education trip. The club has a budget of $10,000 to cover major costs of the trip for 12 high-school aged students and 3 adult chaperones. Plan the destination, modes of transportation, accommodations, and activities and events for a group. The trip can take place any time in the next six months.

In this activity, you will learn to use spreadsheet software by completing the following tasks.

·      Get an estimate of the various expenses: transportation to/ around/ from the destination, lodging, two meals per day, and activities.

·      Present the cost estimates in a tabular form using spreadsheet software (EXCEL).   

  • Include your name and date on the spreasheet

Cite the online URLs of the sources you used in a Word document.

Task 2: Visually Representing a Budget Using Spreadsheets

In this activity, you will learn to use various functions of spreadsheet software by completing the following tasks:

·      Make use of graphs and charts in spreadsheet software to represent the estimated budget (expenses) visually.

·      You could make use of pie diagrams, flow charts, bar graphs, etc.  

·      Your final product must include a minimum of two well-designed graphs, charts, pie diagrams, flow charts, or bar graphs
