Drawing from the film shown in class this evening, answer the following questions:

1 What is the value of mass incarceration?

2 What is the long-range “value” of incarceration of Juveniles, as opposed to providing treatment (Keep in mind the judge’s reference to incarceration as “treatment”)?

3 How does incarcerating mentally ill treatment provide safety for the public?

4 In short, do you agree with the jail official that incarceration of non-violent offenders does not serve public safety? Why did you select that answer?
