• Rubric for Response papers/listening
•  The Response papers should address 2-4 audio examples that were covered in the class – and incorporate class readings, class power points, lectures, videos, guests, class discussions and class exercises.  These should describe elements of cultural context, music analysis, and incorporate your thoughts, ideas.
  • You do NOT have to use MLA or any other type of research format;
  • You should put your name, date, AKNS/MUS A216 on the top right or left of first page, and use the title “Response Paper #1; Response Paper #2; Response Paper #3
  • you can incorporate guests and videos, as well as class discussions.
  • 2-3 double spaced pages
• When you write about the class readings you should cite the name of the article and the author.
•  For example you could write: In the article by Kobla Ladzepko “Music of Ghana”, I found it interesting that they were addressing the cultural context of his specific tribe – the Eve people. He addressed the role of the master drummer – which was a role unfamiliar to me. He describes the different drums and their names ………  
• These papers show me that you are reading the articles and that you are digesting the material and also gives you the opportunity to express your own opinion, your own thoughts, reactions and ideas. You do not need to have a bibliography or sources cited at the end
