Question one :In the previous segment we heard about Hadiths which are a collection of traditions containing sayings of the prophet Muhammad which, with accounts of his daily practice (the Sunna), constitute the major source of guidance for Muslims apart from the Koran.  We will hear more about these in a couple of the segments to come.  Hadiths are also the source of contention within Islam as some are poorly sourced and yet attributed to Muhammad.  Consider for a moment what are some of the good things that can come out of attributing sayings to the prophet as well as some of the pitfalls.

Question two: In this short essay assignment consider the two sides, the Shia who believe in a succession from Muhammad and the Sunni who do not believe in a succession.  Consider why it might be important to have a direct line of succession as well as how that same understanding of succession might be troubling.
