Domination by the European-Americans brought challenges to minor groups. Some of those challenges include racism.

The current people in the U.S. are the descendants of the settlers who came to America from other continents. Most of them, especially the European Americans intermarried. For example, Zhang (42) reveals a story of French national that came to the U.S. in late 1700 and married a Dutch national. The son from that family married French citizen, got sons who married different nationals. The American society in ancient times (during the colonial period) was largely dominated by the British. People in the U.S. in late 18th century had almost half of the British citizens. The British and the other European people who had come to the U.S. early created a dominant culture called Anglo-American Culture. The Anglo-Americans are responsible for the creation of various political, constitutional, social and religious institutions. Close to two-thirds of the immigrants the United States arrived from Northwestern Part of Europe as of 19th century. Twentieth century saw the arrival of people from different parts of the World. The immigration trend in the U.S. will see many people with different backgrounds settling there. Studies estimate that by the current influx of people to the U.S. from different parts of the world will see an increase of non-white people in the future.

The dominance of European-American people in the U.S. brought what was called Racism. One of the aspects of racism that resulted from European-American dominance in the U.S. is structural racism. Structural racism refers to a situation where a range of dynamics such as cultural, historical, institutional and interpersonal are made in favor of some people (European-Americans).
