Algernon and Jack Worthing gets worried about the town and the country they live in and Algernon asks Jack why is he is country man but for Jack thins a town is the “in” and best place for one to be in the second place.
“When one is in town amuses oneself. When one is in the country one amuses other people” their reasoning is idiotic since they tend to speak in a more complicated manner, even though they understand one another perfectly well. In the play, Jack and Algernon makes false characters in which Jack has been used to invent a younger brother he named Ernest while Algernon invents an invaluable permanent invalid brother he called Bunberry. Jack thinks his name is not good for both town and country. Algernon and Jack live through telling lies as pleases them.
Oscar Wilde has developed humor from the plot which is entirely ridiculous while Jack’s position in the play remains impulsive completely. Lady Bracknell, the aunt of Algernon who is also the mother of Gwendolen differs with the marriage after Jack fall short of her test of becoming on her roll of suitable young men for her daughter to marry this shows that she is a snob and controlling mother who wants the best for her children, she wants her daughter to get married to a gentleman with the standards of primacy, prosperous and of course with parents of the upper classes. She is also not to the long engagements and she believes this gives people opportunity of finding one another’s character before marriage. In marriage her opinions are considered important.
Algernon decides to visit the country house in Shropshire where Cecily, Miss Prism and Meriman are. In return, he does not act as untrue country friend. He calls himself Ernest which is the same name as of Jack’s town name. Algernon hooks up with Cecily as Gwendolen arrives at Shropshire country house
