Create a 3 page essay paper that discusses Effects of Technology on Career Goals in Psychology.

Indeed, these technologies have eased the psychologists work and greatly improved their work environment (Loomis, Blascovich, &amp. Beall, 2000). However, there are other negative effects that these advancing technologies have brought in this field as such this paper is going to scrutinize the existing effects of technology in the career goals in psychology. Most psychologists engage themselves this career because they are enthusiastic about helping other people. Consequently, the psychology career is an outstanding means to find such contentment and satisfaction. This career offers an individual the opportunity to help a person solely by listening. This may look like a simple act but to some it makes an enormous difference, particularly if they believe there is no one else willing to listen to their stories. In fact, there are specialties or branches of psychology where the act of helping is more obvious. One such field is the clinical psychology, however psychologists have daily chances to feel fulfillment from helping their patients, including those in research field. As has been outlined earlier, the main goal of a psychologist is to help their patients. Another goal is to learn about different people and the things that make those people different from each other or behave in the manner they are behaving. Hence, handling individuals with mental illnesses can be exciting from an intellectual’s perspective. ...

In essence, technology is generally created to simplify tasks and this is what it has actually done for this field. For example, machines that can read the thoughts of a patient or their most probable reaction under certain conditions greatly aid in the diagnosis of such patient’s. They are time saving to both the patient and the psychiatrist. Secondly, technology has proved to be accurate on many issues that the psychologist objects towards. For example it can accurately predict an outcome in a patient than if matrixes were used or personal judgment. This is true because most technologies are programmed to react to more than one variance unlike the human mind that reacts at one variance at a time (Loomis, Blascovich, &amp. Beall, 2000). Thirdly, technology helps the psychiatrist to learn the patient’s behavior accurately since the some machines available in this field are programmed read the mind of the patient. These machines help the psychiatrist to get more information even when the patient is discrete on them. This form of technology has been used by the police departments to interrogate their staffs who are deemed to be hiding information in addition to interrogating suspects. Conversely, technology bas diluted the logic behind psychology. It has commercialized every aspect of the field making it just like any other career. For example, psychology as was in the old days entailed deep interaction with the subject so that behavioral characteristics can be analyzed. This would involve many interaction sessions till these behaviors were clear to the practitioner. This has been killed by the presence of these technologies because the machines analyze such traits very fast therefore requiring very few sessions.
