Create a 3 page essay paper that discusses German civilization: Lesson 6: The Holocaust.

Since anti-Semitism only means the hatred, prejudice and/or discrimination against the Jew as an ethnic, religious or national or religious group, it informs and encapsulates events such as the Holocaust. The history of anti-Semitism is complexly convoluted but the Holocaust, and not any other anti-Jewish historical occurrence serves as the epitome of anti-Semitism.

For one, one would easily rush to compare the Holocaust with historical incidents such as the Captivity of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar and Babylonians and Israel by the Assyrian Empire as they exist outside the provided timeframe as they took place in 586 BC and 722 BC, respectively. One of the factors that make the Holocaust the worst form of anti-Semitism from 2,500 BC to the present is the fact that the Holocaust was merely geared towards the systematic decimation of the Jew. Unlike the Holocaust, other forms of Jewish persecution such as the Persecution of Jews during the Middle Ages had been interested in emasculating the Jew religiously or politically. As such, it was not a rarity that the life of the Jew would be spared if he capitulated into being a Christian, as is the case in the run-up to the Rhineland Massacre. The corollary to this is that during the conquering of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple in 70 AD, some Jews were able to escape through underground tunnels (Arthur, 2).

However, the immediately foregoing was not the case with the Holocaust. The Jewish Holocaust involved the use of more complex technology such as the Einsatzgruppen. This meant that the amount of deaths arising from the Holocaust was higher. The methods that were used in the Holocaust made the killing of Jews in large numbers more efficient and effective. There were poison gas chambers and kilns for killing the Jews to this extent.

Again, unlike other cases of Jewish persecution, the Holocaust employed a multipronged approach in an attempt at the decimation of the Jews. The Crusades
