As we begin the poem in the general sense, looking at it from nature-oriented perspective, it appears as usual as any other poem written by Wordsworth. His love and care for nature is revealed. Wordsworth's romantic style can be clearly visualised through the young boy's attachment towards nature and to place it in right terms we can call it being 'one' with nature. This is the common element present in many of his poems. Besides the simplicity of language used in this poem, we can also see the resemblance of style. We can very well say that the style used is as similar to his other poems. The unique difference lies in the context of interpretation that makes it a remarkable one.

This poem explores the loss of innocence in human. The poem itself is a journey of a man from childhood to adulthood. In this sense, it is very obvious that there is a loss of innocence. When a child is born it is full of innocence, knowing not what it does, it keeps growing and enjoying the greatest gift of life as a child. As it reaches the starting point of its adulthood, it almost looses much of its innocent quality. At this stage, the child is able to understand the presence of good and evil. When the child consciously commits a mistake it regrets and that is what happens in this poem.

In the beginning we see Wordsworth connecting the young boy or the protagonist of the poem with nature. He says that both human and nature are same sharing the same innocence, purity and beauty. The boy sets out for an adventure trip for collecting nuts through the woods where he comes across a beautiful tree in a place which has not been visited before. The lines, "I came to one dear nook unvisited" gives a clear picture of the place of his visit. There is a strong sexual imagery conveyed if we observe it from the side of the boy. Because a few lines after, he introduces the term "a virgin scene". When we look at it from a personal side, the imagery he produces here is the actual life of humans visiting the unvisited for the first time and loosing all their innocence.

THE SEXUAL IMAGERY

It is always the nature of humans to explore and uncover everything. There is a close connection in Wordsworth connecting the boy who is a representative of humans with that of the term "unvisited". This unvisited place which we saw as nature is no more a thing. it attains life and takes the form of a woman. We can understand this from the lines, "A virgin scene! A little while I stood breathing with such suppression of the heart". The boy is unable to ignore the temptation of the beauty and thus looses his control. Innocence becomes desire and he is no more a child. He becomes matured and is able to understand what is what. He plays enjoys and gets the maximum pleasure out of it. His experience proves him that it is the best of all happiness he can get. All these can be understood from the following lines:

"Among the flowers, and with the flowers I play'd.
