Topic 1: Levels of Measurement

From your reading in Chapter 4 (https://archive.org/details/BasicsOfResearchMethodsForCriminalJusticeAndCriminology2ndEditionMichaelG.MaxfieldEarlR.Babbie),

 recall that there are four levels of measurement. There are also several implications for which level is needed, or desired, based on the purpose of the research and the relationship (or association) among the variables involved.

1.       Identify the four levels of measurement and give examples of each. Why might a variable be measured (captured) on one level verses another?

Topic 2 and 3 needs outside research, not related to book like topic 1.

Processing the Crime Scene and Establishing Identity

Topic 2: What Evidence Should Be Documented?

2.       Give a brief description of the order in which evidence should be documented, collected, and preserved. Your answer should include the role of potential contamination in your decision-making process.

Topic 3: Latent Prints

3.       Discuss at least two of the chemical methods used to raise latent prints and advise your classmates on what piece of evidence you would process that way. Be sure to choose a different piece of evidence from your classmates.
