Declaration of Sentiments Writing Extension

What are your grievances? In other words, what rights have been violated, and what effect do they  have on those who suffer?

Do these grievances fall into categories, and do you want to cluster the categories together, as Stanton  does, or spread them apart?

For the preamble, what parts of the documents you studied, if any, do you want to draw on? It was  useful for Stanton to use Jefferson’s words to encourage listeners to hear that women were being  oppressed by a tyrant, in violation of their natural rights. What words and phrases might you use to lend  credibility to your case?

Do you want to state your subject at the outset, or delay it, as Stanton does by first saying “Those who  suffer” and then naming them as “women”?

Both Declarations are a call to action: Jefferson’s to a military revolution for independence; Stanton to  widespread activism. What will your call to action be?
