Discussed social learning and examined different theories directly related to crime causation. This unit further explores the life course theory, policy implications, gun control, and serial killers, who have drawn a lot of attention in the media.

Using what you have learned, address the following:

• Illustrate the 3 different types of life course theories discussed in Chapter 9 by using specific theories.
• Identify and describe 2 policy implications drawn from life course research or theory.
• Debate the potential effects of gun control legislation on violent crime. Why do some believe that right-to-carry legislation will reduce violent crime? Is there evidence for this position?
