Democracy & The Constitution Discussion (Chapters 1 & 2).

Overview and Discussion Post

The purpose of this first unit  -- which will be covered over the next week -- is to learn about the United States Constitution and American Federalism. This week we will focus on the meaning of democracy and more about how the founding fathers keep the republic embodied within the U.S. Constitution.

Chapter 1 Objectives and then discuss....

By end of this chapter you will be able to:

  1. Explain what democracy is, and use this to evaluate American politics
  2. Outline and explain the differences between direct and indirect democracy.
  3. Please post what differences you discover in your online searches there are between democracy and a republic. Post once on March 8th and respond to 2 others posts by MARCH 10TH, 2017.
  4. For your Initial Post due by Wednesday 11:59 PM:

    1. Hit the reply button, below. Write a short introduction about both terms
    2. Post how they differ. Then....

    For your Response to at least 2 classmates due by Friday, 11:59 PM:

    1. Ask for clarification (that is, ask questions) if needed.
