Developing an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) model we discussed in unit lessons I, II, and III, you will be developing a safety and health implementation plan. The plan will be developed in phases (in this unit and the previous two units) and will serve as reference information for a PowerPoint presentation that will be your course project in Unit VII. In this assignment, you are in the do (D) phase of the implementation process. You will develop controls strategies to address potential hazards identified during the planning phase of the implementation process. Continuing with the scenario introduced in Unit II (review Unit II PowerPoint assignment in the syllabus), you have completed the planning phase and are ready to move forward with the implementation of a safety management system. Using the information covered in this unit lesson, you will develop an emergency action plan that will help mitigate injuries and illnesses during emergencies and cover concepts of hazard prevention and control into an implementation strategy for a safety management system. Your emergency action plan should be designed to address the following areas: emergencies within the facility, emergencies outside of the facility, and health-related emergencies. Your plan should integrate the concepts of hazard prevention and control as a measure for managing risk within a safety management system through the development of an emergency action plan. Additionally, you must specifically identify the following information: evacuation procedures, procedure for reporting and alerting authorities, procedure for alerting employees and visitors of the emergency, how employees will be trained on the EAP, how you will account for everyone after the implementation of the EAP, and how the EAP will be updated and maintained. Your EAP should be should be three to four pages. You should use your textbook as a reference for your assignment. You may use outside sources for reference but are not required, all sources used must be cited and referenced according to APA standards.
