All arounders psychedelic which alter sensory input and can cause illusions, and false beliefs regarding self or persons or objects outside of self that persists despite the fact. According to (Inaba & Cohen, p.6.1) “All arounders particularly LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, peyote, ecstasy, and marijuana can act as stimulants or depress Pants, but most of these psychedelics dramatically alter the user’s perceptions of the surroundings and thoughts and create a world in which reason takes a backseat to the intensified sensations generated by illusion, delusions, and hallucinations”.

I found marijuana and other cannabinoids the most intriguing. Hemp and marijuana are two popular names for the cannabis plant. The word cannabis often suggests images of a burning joint or a bong filling up with white smoke. According to (Inaba & Cohen, p.6.28) “Marijuana has dozens of street names; pot, bud, herb, grass, chronic, 420, weed, muggles, Mary Jane, grifa, dank, da kind, pocalolo, trees, leaf, ganja, charas, sens, and dope.” There is a great deal of controversy when it comes to the topic of marijuana, which is like prohibition.

Although marijuana is very common in most of the United States for legal, medical, social, environmental, and especially, economical gain. According to (Inaba & Cohen, p.6.26) “Some plants produced stronger fiber, some produced better food, some are more useful medicinally, and some induce psychedelic effects”. “The first president of the United States, George Washington cultivated hemp for industrial uses. The fibers from hemp held excellent properties for making rope and sail canvas” (George Washington Grew Hemp).

Marijuana is thought to have originated in the middle east millions of years ago, yet according to (Inaba & Cohen, p.6.26) “From its probable origin in China or Central Asia, Cannabis cultivation spread to almost every country in the world”. The Prophet Mohammed did not forbid the use of cannabis in the writing of the Qur’an, and cannabis was able to spread to other countries like Africa and Europe. According to (Inaba & Cohen, p.6.26) “Hashish, the concentrated form of marijuana, is mentioned in certain ancient texts, some of them originating about A.D. 1000”. The United States label cannabis as a poison and prohibited the use for medical, recreational, and industrial purposes. According to (Martin)” Cannabis of any sort, whether for medical or recreations purpose, remains illegal under federal law”. “Marijuana was made illegal in the United States in 1937, and it took 77 years for it to be legalized again in Colorado and Washington for recreational use”. (Inaba & Cohen, p.6.27)

I feel that the reason there is such a strong connection between hallucinogen use and spirituality, is the elements that is in the hallucinogens, which help an individual with a way to connect with their higher power and gives an effect of connecting with the spirit world. According to (Inaba & Cohen, p.6.10) “The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushroom, that speak in a way I can understand. When I return from the trip that I have taken with them, I tell what they have told me and what they have shown me”

No doubt, Christian spirituality can be rewarding when working with someone who is struggling with the use of Hallucinogens. Yet I do believe the individual has to be open and willing to discuss feelings and other issues that may have caused them to seek out Christian counseling. “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death” (James 1:12-15).
