Purpose of the Assignment: To begin to generate content for your discourse community paper. 

Intended Audience: Classmates. Instructor. 

Assignment Description: Post an outline of the characteristics for the discourse community you're analyzing for this assignment. Then give feedback to peers.

1) First, identify the discourse community as clearly as possible. (50-100 words)

2) Then, identify the community's six characteristics for being a discourse community according to Swales' article. To do this, answer each of the six questions in a minimum of 5 sentences, explaining how your community embodies the characteristic that the question is referring to.

3) Post the outline and then respond to two classmates' outlines. Ask them 2-3 questions to help them clarify, depth or detail to their response. NOTE: Your responses to classmates are usually due 24 hours after the initial post, but because I've extended the deadline to Friday for this assignment, your responses to classmates will be due on Monday night.
