In what instances would Wikipedia be of benefit in conducting research necessary to develop quality deliverables ? Wikipedia may be beneficial for obtaining a general overview of a subject. In that general overview, there are often references that may be scholarly acceptable resources that can be followed and used for citations (“Using Wikipedia,” 2009).

Debate the drawbacks of using Wikipedia as a primary academic source for conducting research necessary to develop quality deliverables . One drawback is citing information that may not be accurate due to the possibility of the writings originating from an individual without expertise. A second is the lack of permanency. Any information can be changed at any time, deeming it difficult to cite as a credible resource. Finally, a collegiate level requires a higher deliverable that Wikipedia is unable to match due to the generality of the information (“Using Wikipedia,” 2009).

  1. In what instances would Wikipedia be of benefit in conducting research necessary to develop quality deliverables? When you are researching a topic and want general up to date information, to get a overall summary of a topic and opinions of what someone else thinks of a topic or to get answers to questions.

      2. Debate the drawbacks of using Wikipedia as a primary academic source for conducting research necessary to develop quality deliverables.

Some drawbacks are because people can update Wikipedia you can get inaccurate non-factual information or information that is vandalized. You                could be researching a topic that is not fully developed or where there is a conflict of interest due to the information presented in the topics, such as            the way a person views a topic versus actual facts .

There are four stages according to the Bruce tuckman model. The first one is forming which includes my job as a leader. I must know what the plan is and how to answer questions regarding my team and their work. Storming stage usually happens when a good amount of team members are working hard to prove themselves. Norming stage is next. The later we'll discuss responsibilities to the team. The team will develop a working style best fit for them. The last stages performing. This is where we see everything come together. The team knows what to do and what is expected. They should no longer need two liter to complete tasks.

I am a director of a childcare facility. This is my first year. There's a team of five including myself. I noticed a few months ago one of my employees for breaking rules such as being late and talking on the phone. I don't want anyone including a new employee to think that this is okay. I gave them a verbal warning and then a write-up. The employee decided not to show up one day for work and she was let go. A new employee was hired and we  stated the rules and expectations and a handbook. The employee is doing wonderful on the team. One thing that I did learn as a new child care director is to be consistent.

Forming is the stage when most employees are polite and positive. You will see some anxious ones because they don’t understand the work the team their in will do. As a leader in this stage you need to be dominant because responsibilities of each other are unclear.

Storming phase, is where people start to push against the boundaries established in the forming stage. This is the stage where many teams fail. This often involves conflict between workers and their work styles. Team members that typically stick with the task at hand may experience stress, particularly as they don't have the support of established processes or strong relationships with their colleagues.

Norming is when differences are resolved between people, then you see the beginning of strength in the group. In this stage teams members start getting along better and help one another with constructive feedback.

In the performing stage the team reaches hard work with out friction to successfully achieve team goals. As a leader in this stage you develop team members.

In the Adjourning stage project teams exist for only a fixed period, and even permanent teams may be disbanded through organizational restructuring. Team members that like working closely will find it difficult to as their future in uncertain.

In my time so far I have been part of several organizations. The one I am involved in mostly is a Veterans Organization. What I have found out about being in an organization is the more you feel like a close knit family the easier it is to want to be part and work with the organization. When you are close with the people in the organization you can bounce your thoughts, and ideas off each other with out being judged and get feedback on them. Being close knit and being able to be open with one another in an organization keeps it going strong and united as one.
