Given this definition and explanation, describe what the supply chain of your organization looks like. How does your understanding of, as well as the physical mapping of your supply chain, help you to gain the knowledge necessary to maximize your customer value and gain a competitive advantage within your industry?)

Supply chain management involves the transportation and storage of raw materials, inventories, and processed items from their point of origin to their place of destination (Bordoloi 2021). It further controls the flow of products and services between organizations as well as destinations. Supply chain management is a source of competitive advantage as effective management of the chain leads to cost savings and efficiencies between the network's elements which promote higher profitability for the businesses. Due to this, many business executives have concentrated their efforts on supply chain optimization in an effort to boost both the top and bottom lines. An organization's fundamental competitiveness is primarily characterized by customer value (Ferdows, K., Lee, H. L., & Zhao, X., 2022, page 130). Customer value-oriented supply chain management not only achieves competitive cost and time advantages, but also promotes value creation and transfer by enabling resource sharing and collaboration among members of the supply implementation chain which could solve the problems of convergence, coordination, and information exchange. It is suggested that a customer value-oriented supply chain management should work to increase customer perceptions of gains and lessen those of losses to optimize customer value by means of supply chain design, product selection, business process reengineering, etc. Gathering data from all of the organizations, suppliers, and people that are engaged in the company's supply chain in order to generate a comprehensive map of a company's supply network is known as supply chain mapping (Gardner, J. T., & Cooper, M. C., 2003, page 40). The ability to quickly respond to supply chain issues, such as a supplier shortage, an order going missing in the system, a spike in demand, or something even more unexpected, is made possible through supply chain mapping. Additionally, a more thorough awareness of the associated expenses, deadlines, and dangers give an organization an edge over rivals who lack this crucial information.

The book gives us a lot of information about supply chains. The author states, "Supply chain management is a total systems approach to delivering manufactured products to the end customer. Using information technology to coordinate all supply chain elements from parts suppliers to retailers achieves a level of integration that is a competitive advantage not available in traditional logistics systems "(Bordoloi, p 249). I'm a registered nurse that works in the hospital, so the supply chain in my organization is a little different from others. Materials and supplies we need to take of our patients are brought from a storage room called"central supply" Central supply has all the supplies that a hospital will ever need. Central supply brings all the goods from medication supplies to foley's, lotions, and other essential things to each floor, depending on the floor's or unit's needs. Central supply has to get its products from manufacturers that also supply thousands of other hospitals and healthcare systems. The health care supply chain is a global chain that provides quality materials to many people. The manufacturers are the first link to the chain, giving the product off to wholesalers or the hospital system.

Understanding the physical mapping of the healthcare supply chain helps me better understand how the material is purchased by the hospital and then distributed. If the manufacturer is out of supplies or has a lack of support/ employers, then the whole chain will be affected. Often nurses and other workers get upset with the hospitals for not having the supplies we need to care for our patients. Understanding the supply chain helps one to understand the demand for products needed.

As Christians, we are to continually improve and sanctify ourselves so we will not become ineffective or unfruitful. If we focus on continually improving, we will be much more effective and fruitful in our business ventures (2 Peter 1:5-8). An entrepreneur has the responsibility to utilize their resources efficiently and effectively for the long-term sustainability of their organization. By understanding when, where, and how to utilize these resources, the entrepreneur is better equipped to reap the benefits of these resources. Through God’s wisdom, an entrepreneur will learn when and how to sow these resources and utilize them for God’s glory (2 Corinthians 9:6- 7). As Christian business owners, we have the opportunity and responsibility to not simply look out for our own gain and interest but to look out for others. When weserve our customers, value our employees, treat our suppliers with respect and look to their interests, we are able to not only run an organization according to biblical principles but better connect with the resources that are available to us and cultivate excellence in this organization (Philippians 2:1-4). What does continuous improvement and sanctification of your life look like within your business venture? How do you serve your customers and remain a good steward of the resources God has entrusted you with? Proverbs 1:5 (King James Version) states, “A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel.” As Christian business owners or leaders, we should always pray that God gives us wisdom and the mind to want to learn more and more every day. No one will ever know it all. To be successful in business, one must focus on continuous improvement and sanctification. Process improvement is the bedrock principle of a cost leadership strategy (Bordoloi, p 187). Continuous improvement is a way of thinking that needs to be incorporated into a firm’s culture (Bordoloi, p 187).

Always treat others how you want to be treated. As Christians, we should treat people with dignity and always strive to help one another. I carry the word of God with me every day throughout my organization. I always try to brighten someone’s day and acknowledge God in everything I do.
