Discussion Board

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Students, for this course, we encourage students to review and access the variety of accounting software resources available for small businesses at no cost. If you have access to Quickbooks (not free), you can use that software if you choose. A few free options are: Wave; Zipbooks;  or GnuCash but you can look at other options by searching “free alternatives to Quickbooks” on your preferred search engine.

For each task, if the software selected has issues printing your assignment ‘answers’, please show your work by using the Print Screen option and pasting the picture of the screenshot in a Word Document. Then simply upload the document into the assignments section.

For this assignment, research at least 3 different types of computerized accounting software.

• Provide a background on each including what they offer and how they are different.
• Include at least 3 pros and cons for each, while taking into consideration the types of businesses.

On December 1, 2014, Larry and Samantha West formed a corporation called Farm Branch Rentals. The new corporation was able to begin operations immediately by purchasing the assets and taking over the location of LMNOP Rentals, an equipment rental company that was going out of business.

With this in mind, Samantha and Larry want you to explain to them the pros and cons of converting from a manual to a computerized accounting system, as well as give a recommendation of software or hardware that would work best for their business. Submit your explanation in a memo.
