This week YOU find websites, articles, reports, and etc. that describe, define, and demonstrate the three levels of leadership (top, down).

What is Strategic Leadership? What is Operational Leadership? What is Tactical Leadership?

Then I want you to give an illustration of the three levels.

For example: military—specifically U.S. Army. I'm only using U.S. Army as a case study, you must write your paper for (Maryland-DPSCS-DOC)

Strategic Leaders (Generals) determine Why and Where to engage the enemy. This assumes the political leaders have already declared war and have decided that military warfighting is the next move.

Operational Leaders (Colonels & Lieutenant Colonels) lead the leaders of the groups or units engaging the enemy by determining What to use (types of units and weaponry), and How to use them (shaping the battlefield, direction of attack, strength, etc., and reserves and reinforcements)

Tactical Leaders (Captains & Lieutenants) fight the battles; they lead the people that engage the enemy physically. This is where the boots meet the ground.

What are some other analogies illustrating the three levels? Consider the many types of organizations that employ leaders at the multiple levels. Even the Roman Catholic Church has these various types/levels of leadership. Government at all levels as well as colleges and universities, and also businesses have positions that are strategic, operational and tactical. Again, what types of positions (titles) are strategic; operational; tactical?
