Review this study - reading parts I, II, and III.  Look closely at the researcher's question.  Analyze the literature review and determine if it supports the need to address the research question. Then share your response with supporting evidence in a 200-word discussion post. Respond to two peer discussions. You will find the Coleman study in the Week 2 Module.

The concept of professional learning communities has been around for several years. For the past five-ten years, it seems that this concept has taken off, and many districts/schools have implemented PLC's. Without question, professional learning communities often look very different when compared to those in a neighboring school district. 

After reading Chapters 1 and 2 in the text and the article One Step at a Time and Seven Stages of PLCs, for this discussion, describe what professional learning communities look like in your school and within your school district, including which stage of implementation according to the article that your PLC falls in to. Tell how often the PLC's meet, what kind of work typically occurs during the PLC's, and celebrations and/or frustrations associated with PLC's in district. 

Fully develop your own discussion entry, and comment/interact with a minimum of two colleagues via the discussion board. Indicate their names and then include your response. I look forward to learning about your experiences associated with professional learning communities

Next, view the video of a small group of teachers who are actually working in a professional learning community. Pay attention to which of Dufour's guiding questions are addressed in the PLC video. For the discussion, explain how these teachers are discussing/addressing one of the guiding questions. Also, discuss how the teachers' conversation relates to the guiding question/s. Finally, what is effective about this PLC, and what practices could possibly be improved to increase the value of these teachers' time?
