Discussion Response 1B
Respond to the discussion post below with YOUR educated opinion in 3-4 sentences WITH scholarly source backing it up:
One dataset that an HR department would collect would include salary and position in light of gender and race bias, or discriminatory practices. The HR department might collect information on the salary of its employees coupled with the race and gender of each employee. When comparing the mean salary of each race and gender, it would be easier to determine if wages were unfairly distributed amongst employees of different ethnicities and sexes. An HR department could also then use the information on gender and race to determine if the company was using those factors to determine promotions to positions of power or authority in the company. These statistical methods would of course need to be controlled against other variables like education, years of experience, talent, and industriousness.
