Criteria" Please respond to the following:

• Criteria are a critical part of the justification report assignment. This is an excellent forum to enlist the assistance of your classmates if you are having difficulty deciding what criteria to choose for Assignment 2.1.
  • For this thread, you should:
    • Define the term criteria and examine two (2) ways they function in helping someone make an important decision. Note: You can use an example from your own life to help clearly explain your point.
    • Discuss your potential topic for the justification report (a workplace problem – see Assignment 2.1 details) then determine which criteria you intend to use to help make your decision. Be sure to cite two (2) reasons why you chose those criteria

  • Criterion or criteria is the principle or standard by which something may be judged or decided. One example of criteria is SAT scores, and how they are a key tool in deciding whether or not a student gets into a particular college or not. Also, and probably the most important is finance criteria. If the defined word criteria is the principal or standard by which something may be judged or decided, how often is criteria used when making large financial decisions. A mayor of a major city would need to examine criteria before presenting a proposal for a new school, to fix roads, or structures around town. Criteria can also be used in the process of qualifying for something. A friend of mine is a police officer, he had to take a physical, as well as several mental tests. If I was interested in becoming a police officer, I may ask my friend "do I fit the criteria" or "what is the criteria to apply" meaning what do I need before applying, or being accepted into the academy.

    I'm struggling with the topic of my justification report, as I usually do trying to find something that doesn't exist I guess I don't have the imagination I did when I was a kid. The topic I'm thinking about exploring is employee break room costs. For instance, the CEO of the company has put me in charge of managing the vending machines, coffee machines, the packets or cups for the coffee machine. Pretty much all that a coffee station/break room would entail, the paper products, as well as the appliances. My job is to find out how to save the company money in that department, along with making sure everything is in working condition. My job will extend outside of the break room a little bit as well, because there are water coolers, and other stations that need to be managed as well. I will do research weekly to find out what items, or things we could do as a company to save money while keeping employee moral high. I chose this this criteria, honestly, because it was all I could think of at the time. I feel like I would be better at this if I was actively working, because I would have a better idea of what goes on, or I could do the assignment based on what I do everyday. I haven't worked in almost 4 years due to injury so this is all I came up with. Another reason I chose this is because it seemed like easily accessible information, prices of items, what it costs the company in bulk, and how we can save money by switching delivery services.

    My justification report is on the benefits of having an extended lunch break. My current job allows their employees to have a 30 minute lunch break, but my argument is to extend this break between 45 minutes to an hour.

    "Incorporating Graphics Into the Justification Report"  Please respond to the following:

    • This week, you are to add a graph to your Justification Report. Discuss how you'll approach this part of your assignment, and state the main reasons why you feel that graphs are a necessary part of a formal report.
    • From Part 1 of this discussion, determine the main benefits of using graphs in the report presentation. Next, explain the matter in which a creatively constructed graph might help you to better manage and present your data.

"Putting it All Together - Revising the Justification Report" Please respond to the following:

• This week, you will utilize the techniques that you have studied in your Week 6 readings to revise your Justification Report while adding the final parts. Based on your readings, state three (3) things that you will be looking for as you revised and proofread (e.g. organization, structure, grammar elements). Discuss the strategies that you will implement to ensure that your assingment is polished and in final draft format.

Response to student:

I think one of the more important aspects of revising anything is making sure the grammar elements are correct. Grammar, can make anything written either good, or completely unreadable. A second thing I want to make sure is left out of my justification report, at least until I've come to a conclusion, is to use bias-free language. When you're writing a justification report, you should remain unbiased for the most part, if it seems like you are favoring one side, or another, your report can become unusable. Finally, structure is an important aspect when it comes to writing reports, essays, almost anything not a text message, or an e-mail. Structure goes hand and hand with grammar, grammar allows for the writing to flow coherently. If a paper, or report isn't structured correctly, it can make it really difficult to follow and cause readers to lose interest fast. Proofreading is a great way to find mistakes in a report, or paper, and is recommended in almost every written thing. One way I like to make sure everything rolls together is to have other people read it. Not just one, have several people read it, and most of the time if there is a mistake they will find something you didn't. The more eyes, the better. Proof reading solves issues such as grammar, and structure, but can also be used to fix my 3rd issue, which was to not come of as biased to one side or the other.
