  • Examine how collaboration and teaming between special educators and general classroom teachers are critical to the equality of education experienced by children with disabilities. Provide a rationale for your response.
    • The collaboration and teaming between special educators and general classroom teachers is called “co-teaching” and is critical to the equality of education experienced by children with disabilities. As a special education teacher a great deal of my planning is done with the general educations teachers to be able to provide my students with modified grade level material in the least restrictive environment(LRE). It gives students the opportunity to be included with the rest of their peers but still receive their individualized services.
  • Formulate an overall strategy for utilizing universal design for learning (UDL) techniques to students with and without special needs.
    • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) aims to luck at the problems within the curriculum rather than the student. The instruction that is designed to be used without modification for all students, both with and without special needs. The best strategy to utilize UDL is to anticipate the needs for all students and design lessons that benefit from the lowest to the highest level of learners. Educators should be flexible in how they present content, the learning choices they provide students and how students demonstrate what they have learned.
