Question 1 - Please explain and discuss, from Chapter 9, cohort and case-control studies and provide and example of each.

Question 2 - Discuss randomization as covered in Chapter 10 (pages 237-239).   Select a question and work the problem.  If you respond to a multiple choice question, discuss why your answer is correct and the others are not the best option.

Question 3 - The Freedman et al study and the Kojima et al study are both excellent examples of cohort studies.  Compare and contrast the cohort studies and choose one of the following questions to address on discussion board:

a. Which study does the best job of selecting a study population and why?

b. Does potential bias exist within the studies?  Discuss.

c. Is the cohort study the best design to estimate the risk in the author’s population or is a better design available? Discuss.

Question 4. From the Quinn article, select a question to answer regarding the study.

1. What potential biases exist within the study? Are the biases addressed by the authors?
2. Discuss the use of controls in the study.
3. Is the case-control the best design to investigate the association of failed tracheal intubation in the population of obstetrics or is a better design available?
