“Africa” Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou was a 20th -21st century poet and writer, who grew up experiencing poverty and racism in the Arkansas Delta. Look at the images in her poem “Africa.” Reading the poem literally, what is she saying about Africa? Reading the poem figuratively, how does she identify with Africa as a black woman?
