Throughout my life thus far, I have experienced both effective and ineffective leadership. The most consistent and inspiring form of leadership I continue to experience is my father. In his professional realm in the grocery business, he is all about his employees. He creates a personal, unique rapport with each of his employees that show he is as much their for them as they are for him. Being the good-natured leader he is, his employees appear to do all they can to move toward the goals set before them. They ask often questions to better results and knowledge. He, as well, gains input for outside projects to show their ideas and thoughts are important to more than the concrete work before them. He has worked in the grocery business for 30+ years, and still remembers the name of every worker at every store he walks into. Although he has moved up the organizational pyramid, they still feel comfortable carrying on conversation and giving feedback on the day-to-day events of the stores. If he asks any of the employees to do something, they act on it in heartbeat. His positive influence causes action at a moment's notice. He has created a culture in his own department filled with a family feel that are driven together to accomplish every task head on. My dad has shown time and again that his leadership is strong and powerful, but filled with positivity.
