Explain how key biostatistical calculations and methods support the conclusions in each article. Cite relevant information from the articles that support your answer
From the result section of both articles, identify descriptive and inferential statistics used to address the research questions or goals or objectives. You would identify inferential statistics by P-values and confidence intervals. Do not try to reproduce tables directly from the articles. Select pieces of information that hinges on your research question you developed from both articles. Remember that small p-values, normally less than 0.05, would support the research question. You are likely not to see null and alternative hypothesesexplicitly stated but are implied by calculating and interpreting p-values and confidence intervals.
So far, we only learned about one sample Z statistics and how to convert it to p-values, however, look out for statistical techniques such as one sample t-test, independent t-test, Analysis of Variance (F-test), linear regression (both t-test and F-test), chi-square test of independence as some of the techniques that can be used to calculate relevant test statistics for subsequent determination of P-values. There may also be non-parametric statistical techniques used often resulting in chi-square or z-tests. Whatever was used, whether parametric or non-parametric, note that decisions would largely depend on p-values and confidence intervals given acceptable effect sizes.
