As described in the syllabus and on the Extra Credit Opportunities page, one way to earn extra credit points is to write a 2- to 3-page, double-spaced summary of a published, peer-reviewed research article in the field of psychology. Each satisfactory summary will be worth 5 points, and you can earn up to 10 extra credit points (2%) using this option. The last day to upload your summary (or summaries) to Canvas is Sunday, 7/25/2021.

- For each article summary:
- Find a peer-reviewed psychology journal research article via the databases at the library, such as PsycINFO (databases can be found here: http://libguides.utpb.edu/az.php?a=p You may also search for interesting articles in specific journals. Some ideas include: Psychological Science in the Public Interest, Trends in Cognitive Science, and Psychological Science.
- Read the article thoroughly.
- Write a 2- to 3-page, double-spaced summary of the article in a word document file (either .docx or .doc). Your review should include the following:
- Citation (Author(s), Year, Name of Article, Name of Journal, Volume, and Pages).
- You do not need to turn in the article itself.
- What is the general question that the research is designed to address?
- What is the research hypothesis?
- What research design(s) is/are used in the study (e.g., experiment, quasi-experimental, correlational research, descriptive research)?
- How many participants were there? Who were the participants (e.g., undergraduate students, male white rats)?
- Describe the conditions in the study (e.g., the independent and dependent variables).
- What were the findings and conclusions of the study?
