Final Project (Week 12)
Instructions
EDTC605 Final Project
Information Literacy Unit Plan
For the final project in this course, you are going to create a unit plan for your classroom (or your future classroom). You will design a unit plan for at least one week -- 5 days or longer -- for your content area/grade level(s), which incorporates activities to promote information literacy skills.
General Guidelines:
- The unit plan created may not be the same as one created for another UMUC course or a revision of a lesson plan submitted in another course.
- In the unit plan, you will need to include the content and information literacy standards being addressed, the objectives of the unit, the instructional materials needed, accommodations you will make for special needs students, daily procedures and assessment strategies.
- You will need to develop a timeline for the project with a detailed day by day description of its implementation and all the instructional materials (teaching resources, handouts, activity instructions, etc.). You may use or adapt materials you find on the Internet as long as you cite them properly.
- The activities and daily procedures must be clear enough that if you were to hand your unit lesson plan to other teachers, they would be able to implement your plan. Be sure to provide very detailed step-by-step instructions for what you as the teacher will do.Note that there are four sections on the form: Description, Analysis, and Reflection, for the Unit Plan, and a final Reflection on the Semester.
Required Components:
There are four required components for this assignment. A template, which includes instructions for each component, is provided in a separate document.
- Description of the Information Literacy Unit Plan – In this section, you will provide details for your unit plan (standards, objectives, materials, daily activities, etc.).
- Analysis of Information Literacy Lesson Plan – In this section, you will provide the rationale for the activities you chose and how they help you meet the unit objectives.
- Reflection on Unit Lesson – In this section, you will reflect on how your unit plan demonstrates what you have learned about information literacy.
- Reflection on the Semester – In this section, you will reflect on what you have learned in the course.
Please see the template for the required format and details on what is required in each component of the assignment.
