Focused Research:  Life-long learning is a critical part of being an effective teacher.  You may choose from the following disability areas as the topic of your focused research:  Speech and Language Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, Gifted, Twice-Exceptional and Autism.  The focus of the article and your paper needs to reflect the grade level you are planning to teach.

Description:  Summarize the main ideas made in the article.  This should be strictly factual information and not contain any of your personal opinions.  Exactly what points does the article make?

Analysis:  Based on the focus in this class and your own experiences, what is your opinion about what you have read?  Be sure to support your opinion with specific information from the articles.  Do you agree or disagree with the points the author(s) make and WHY?

Reflection:  How will this information impact your own teaching practice and student learning in your class?  How did it change the way you think about your personal teaching practice or how did it affirm your current beliefs?

References for article:  You must use the American Psychological Association (APA) style (5th Edition) or MLA to site your articles.

You may use professional journals, Galileo and/or the Internet to gather your information, but the articles must be current (at least 2000) and contain references.  The articles should be related in that they focus on the topic related to working with exceptional students.  You will be graded on the focused-research report rubric.
