- What role does differing behavioral styles play in a conflict?
There are different behaviors style that play a huge role in conflict. Some more importantly conflict resolution. One of the styles that has a impact on someone response to another person. Some individuals will avoid conflict with each other’s and some will confront the problem or conflict head on.
- Discuss the five methods of conflict resolution discussed by DuBrin (2001). What are the pros and cons of each of the following?
- Confront the issue directly. The benefit to this is that by being straight forward and direct and identifying the issue, can help bring upon the solution in a faster manor but one of the cons it that even though you may know the problem or issue you will also be causing more conflict when you are talking about it to weed through the bull and get down to the truth.
- Receive criticism objectively and dispassionately while seeking clarification. The pro to criticism is that you will be able to get feedback to make your project better but also feedback is not always great, and it can hurt. The thing you must understand is that even though you may get your feelings hurt they are just there to try to help.
- Recognize all parties' points of view. When you recognize everyone point of view you can get a huge Varity of idea for an amazing project but also some idea will not be the right kind you will need to be dead on and be respectful cause they are trying to help.
- Mentally convert negative aspects to positive ones. There are two ways that you can turn a bad to good. One by pushing out the bad thought to accept the good one. And you can time for positive ones.
- Negotiate and bargain. Negotiation may be applied to by more than just prices it may not include prices at all, this involves in exchange of goods and an agreement and promises for a performance. While a bargain is a sale on something that is a cheaper price than the original.

- What role does differing behavioral styles play in a conflict?
Differing behavioral styles play a very important role in conflict because a person’s behavior will determine how they respond to situations that may involve conflict. Certain behavior styles can prevent, and diffuse conflict and certain styles can heighten conflict. I think sometimes these behavior styles can be controlled by the individual depending on the situation.
- Discuss the five methods of conflict resolution discussed by DuBrin (2001). What are the pros and cons of each of the following?
- Confront the issue directly.
The pro to confronting the issue directly is that you can go ahead and get this out of the way, so you and the other person can move forward without any awkward moments. The Con is that it could cause more issues depending on how severe the conflict is and how long it has been going on. I think the longer issues last the more severe they become.
- Receive criticism objectively and dispassionately while seeking clarification.
The pro to receiving criticism is that sometimes the individual giving the criticism could be giving great effective and accurate criticism which could help an individual. The con is that some people can take the criticism the wrong way which can cause conflict.
- Recognize all parties' points of view.
The pro to recognizing all parties’ points of view is that you have many ways to look at this. This can be good because someone else’s point of view could be so good that it makes you change your point because they may see a situation in a completely different way to help you see it in the same way. The con to recognizing all points of view is the confusion it may cause.
- Mentally convert negative aspects to positive ones.
The pro to converting negative aspects into positives is this show positive thinking on your part because some people will take a negative aspect and leave it as negative instead of thinking of a way to make it positive. The con is sometimes the negative aspects are meant to be negative because turning them into positive could end back negative. Something like proving someone wrong about someone or something.
- Negotiate and bargain
The pro to negotiating and bargaining is you can get some of what you want from the situation. The con could be in getting what you want there could also be stipulations and rules to be able to get and keep what you want.

Assignment DetailsThis assignment has two parts:
- Discuss the advantages of your most effective research strategy and identify what made it work.
- Explain what made your most unsuccessful strategy unsuccessful and what did you learn from the experience?

I’ve worked with many different research strategies in my past. One of the most effective research strategies that I’ve been part of was a focus group. This is where people who are making decisions based on multiple factors, come to a common conclusion that will offer an organization the best benefits. This is a collaborative effort of people who are well informed or who will need to be well informed of all aspects of the decision. This strategy offers tailored solutions from multiple points of view. This strategy also goes over multiple points of view to ensure a process was not missed.
One of the most unsuccessful strategies I’ve been part of was as a sole strategist/decision maker. For my specific personality, as I want to get to a conclusion, can cloud my insight for asking the right questions. My preferred method of research strategy is in a group setting, so being a sole decision maker can create gaps. There will always be certain elements people will miss, and it always helps significantly when there are additional people involved. It may take time on the front end, but will typically save a significant amount of risk throughout the duration of a project or process.

- Discuss the advantages of your most effective research strategy and identify what made it work.
The most effective research strategy I believe is when you give yourself proper time to be prepared and give yourself enough time to outline and brainstorm your ideas and not cram all the information latest min. If your time management is don’t correct you have enough time to find creditable sources and enough time to make a good decision when it comes
2. Explain what made your most unsuccessful strategy unsuccessful and what did you learn from the experience?
I would say that one of the most unsuccessful strategy for me would be focus group. Even though collaborating with a group would seem to be the best option because we all should have the best interest of the organization. When it come to the saying “having to many chief and not enough Indians “, you can be bogged down with too many opinions and ideas and can make coming with the decisions harder than needed. When you’re the sole person making the decisions, you don’t really have time to second guess yourself.
GROUP PROJECT
You have just been part of a merger. You have each been chosen to head up your department and merge the two groups into a self-directed work team. Work with each other to lay out a plan describing how you will develop a new team within your department or departments. It is natural that there will be some confrontations between people. Look at the stages of team development and use that knowledge to work with the team. It is recognized that some employees will refuse to be part of the team. In fact, the new ownership expects that there will be some who lose their jobs because of these issues; however, that is a last resort. Use all your skills to negotiate with employees in an attempt to resolve conflicts and pull your team together.
Because you are working together as a team, it is seen by the ownership that if one is successful, you are all successful. Likewise, if one fails, you all fail. The future success of the company is dependent on your mutual success.
Consider the following:
- As a team, you must come up with a plan and be in agreement because you have to implement it in your departments.
- For each step you take, provide a brief explanation of your reasoning.
- Use the library and the Internet to research these issues.
The Group should present your findings as a 3-5pages (body of paper) Word document formatted in APA style.
Please submit your assignment.
