For this assignment, you are a doctoral student assigned to mentor a group of incoming students.  You will impart to them the wisdom and knowledge you’ve gleaned from the resources you’ve been exposed to in this course.  When your presentation is over, your prospective mentees should have a clearer understanding of what will be expected of them in a graduate statistics course, both in terms of content and application.

Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists.

Support your presentation with at least five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.

Length:  10 - 12 slides (with a separate reference slide)

Be sure to include citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style where appropriate. Save the file as PPT with the correct course code information. Your narrative should reflect graduate-level writing and APA standards.

Throughout this course, you have used SPSS software and as you approach the end of 11 weeks, you should have some proficiency with using the software.  You will demonstrate that proficiency with the preparation of a PowerPoint presentation to an audience of new doctoral statistics students who have only a very basic understanding of SPSS.

Using a topic of your own choosing, you will compose at least one set of hypotheses, a null, and an alternative, that is relevant to the data you’ve chosen.  You will generate fictitious data, for example by using a random number generator, to comprise the sample data you will test.  Your presentation will document your use of SPSS, including numerical and visual methods of descriptive statistics, and methods you used to conduct inferential statistics.  You must include summary statistics, at least two graphs (e.g., histogram, scattergram, stem-and-leaf plot, etc.) and at least four tests of inferential statistics, e.g., hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression analysis, ANOVA, etc.  You should include no more than one methodology per slide and some methodologies may take multiple slides.  Your discussion of each methodology should include steps on how you actually generated the output that you are presenting.

The resources relevant for this week should be drawn from the multiple resources you have used throughout the course.
