Subject of Study:  You are now in the position of a sociologist working for a large business/corporation (as a group, you may choose a real life international business to research – say, Apple, for example) that is now expanding in partnership from the U.S. to foreign have additional locations in Europe and Asia. Your boss would like for you use your skills in studying foreign cultures to tell him/her more about potential issues that might arise in this new partnership. Specifically, will the cultural differences between the U.S. and Asian countries impact business sales, growth or overall success? It is up to you as sociologists to provide your boss with information regarding the similarities and differences between U.S. culture and Asian culture, specifically put more emphasis on providing insights about the type of businesses and economic practices within both cultures so that your group can address the following prompts:

1) Generate and evaluate at least 3 reasons (1 paragraph per reason) why people may not appreciate the cultural point of view of others and discuss the importance of cultural diversity in the overall success of cultural endeavors, such as business on a global scale. Each individual should use and supply at least 5 resources or materials (reference citations) to support their responses and research. *Note that 3 of the 5 citations may come from different chapters or sections of a particular chapter within the Introduction to Sociology textbook, but at least 2 of the references/resources should come from alternate places.

2) Provide suggestions regarding the steps that the U.S. company can take and policies that can be put in place to help ensure that the company's expansion is successful, even if there are vast cultural differences between U.S. culture and Asian cultures. Your response to this prompt should be at least 1-2 paragraphs. Pull together all that you have learned from previous units to analyze these topics as a sociologist might do in a real research project. Remember to include in-text citations at the end of every paragraph in which you refer to information from any source, i.e., (Burnette, 2013).
