Go to the Census Bureau website and look at the recent figures on the poverty threshold. This is the figure that the government uses to determine who falls below the poverty line, and is thus considered poor. Find your family/household on the table. Do you think this figure is appropriate? Why or why not?

Also, click on the second link below to read about the poverty statistics and what they mean. Why do you think we have such a high rate of poverty? What can or should be done to address this?
