Literature is a major component of French and francophone culture.  In this discussion, choose one French or francophone writer and do some research on him or her.  In your initial post please talk about the writer:

• Give a brief biography - where this person lives/lived, etc.
• Discuss why this writer is famous.
• List a few of the major works of this person, and give a three or four sentence summary of one of them.

Your initial post is due Thursday night, and responses are due Sunday night.

Here's a brief list to get you started: Rabelais, Molière, La Fontaine, Hugo, Dumas père, Duras, Yourcenar, Condé, Bugul. Search credible sources for other writers. Do not repeat a topic that has already been chosen.
