he homeland security law that I believe is the most useful for homeland security efforts is Executive Order 12231, which outlines the protection of the nation's infrastructure. The nation's infrastructure is vulnerable from many fronts. Domestic terrorism, international terrorism, and natural disasters can all affect the nation's infrastructure. Terrorists can and have targeted our infrastructure, and the protection of these assets is vital to our nation's security. Natural disasters have also wreaked havoc our nation’s critical infrastructure.

I believe homeland security should include emergency management functions because there must be some federal oversight over critical infrastructure. State and local agencies are the "first responders" for emergency management, but critical infrastructure needs to be protected for the national interest. Critical infrastructure of national priority should have federal oversight and not be left to state and local agencies only.

Domestic terrorism, international terrorism, and emergency management response efforts are three of the biggest threats to our homeland security. Domestic terrorism divides our country and reinforces the hate towards each other that persists in our nation. International terrorism undermines the blanket of security we live under and threatens our critical infrastructure. Emergency management response efforts are crucial to rebuilding the national psyche after devastating events such as terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast," 1 Peter 5:10. This verse reminds me that Christ will always be there to guide and restore us no matter what we have been through.
