Hello, I am looking for someone to write an article on SWOT 1. It needs to be at least 250 words. SWOT SWOT World Poker Tour Although poker was not a foreign concept to Lipscomb, having once entered a $ 100 satellite tournament, he felt that ESPN’S televising of the World series of Poker was poorly presented. After his film project, Lipscomb had the strong vision that not only could poker be made to be more interesting but that it would be more possible to create a given major league of poker that would allow for entrepreneurial expansion into internet competition etc (Perry, 2002).

With the help of his friends, Lipscomb established a league of players that could enter tournaments as they pleased for prize money from sponsors. In order to make poker more interesting to the viewer, he inserted a small camera under the table that allowed viewers to play along with the tournament players. He also added unique graphics that presented on-screen icons of each player’s card.

These unique additions were regarded by Lipscomb as intellectual property, but this created controversy with some of the competition. ESPN has duplicated Lipscomb’s camera and graphics in its presentation of another league, the World Series of Poker Circuit (Perry, 2002). Lipscomb argues that there was patent infringement but they didn’t sue ESPN.

The future of world poker tour was seriously affected by such a power player in the cable television business (Perry, 2002). Revenue of the company decreased because of competition. Their poor job of dealing with the threat led to higher selling costs resulting in a loss through the third quarter of 2005 of about $3.5 million.
